About Me

Hi! I’m Gen, and welcome to my soft life era.
I know, I know—you might be rolling your eyes and thinking, “Ugh, cringe.” But beyond the trend, soft life is something more than a viral phrase. For many women—myself included—it’s becoming a deeply personal way of living: slower, more intentional, emotionally honest, and rooted in values that don’t always fit the hustle narrative.
As a Filipina-born Dutch-based migrant, I find myself in that awkward tug-of-war between cultures. Growing up in the Philippines, I still carry the quiet imprints of my culture—the instinct to people-please, to be agreeable, to soften conflict, and to silently take on roles expected of me just because I’m a woman. But being raised by modern-thinking parents in a multi-cultural household—and later on moving to The Netherlands—there’s a side of me that’s proud, independent, and fiercely driven to succeed.
And that’s why we’re here. Because perhaps like you, I spent a good part of my young adulthood believing I had to have it all—and have it all together. The job, the family, the fancy house, financial success, and that girl-boss status. And to be fair, women can have all that. Some truly want to—and that’s valid.
But I think for most of us, we’re just navigating life with the energy we have, learning to choose our battles, and realizing we can have it all… but maybe it’s just not worth it. At least not in the way we were told it should be—not at the cost of our health, sanity, and our most authentic selves.
Gen’s Soft Life is about this state of mind. It’s about choosing to be soft in a world that hardens you. It’s about slowing down—not because life got easier or that you’re choosing it to be, but because you no longer want to outrun yourself. It’s about honoring where you came from but consciously navigating and accepting who you’re becoming, and helping create space for others who are also just quietly figuring it out.
So if you’ve read this far, I just want to say,
